NMS wins international Health & Safety award

NMS Infrastructure has been named Health and Safety Team of the Year at the Africa Safety Awards for Excellence 2023 (AfriSAFE). AfriSAFE is the largest and most prestigious HSE event in Africa and reaches an estimated audience of over 500 million. It is endorsed by leading brands across the world including IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) as lead sponsors.

NMSI’s philosophy of a seamless HSSE team means that every safety officer, supervisor or manager has a direct link to the NMS Group HSSE Manager. The entire supply chain is involved in continuous improvement in HSE and the supply chain operations team also has direct access to the NMS Group HSSE Manager.

NMSI has established an effective reward culture for positive HSE behaviour such that reported minor injuries requiring first aid have fallen for the second year running, reflecting the team’s commitment to the highest standards of occupational health and safety at work. To date, over 280 safety awards have been awarded to safety officers, site workers, and operational staff on site.

Throughout every site there is a strong focus on safety inductions and briefings on safety procedure and the correct use of PPE which is provided for all workers.

HSSE Manager Paul said: “This is an important recognition for all safety personnel and operational teams as well as our supporting departments. The whole team works together to ensure that the workforce goes home in the same condition as when they arrived. We are pleased that the team’s efforts have been recognised by this prestigious award.”
