NMS and Nedbank spur healthcare revolution in Zambia

Construction of the 5 x 80-bed District Hospitals has been completed with final works, installation of equipment, commissioning and training complete or near-complete. The modern facilities with state of the art medical equipment bring international standards of healthcare to the districts of Mambwe, Nchelenge, Kazembe, Kitwe and Ndola.

With a combined population of some 1.5 million inhabitants, the fully-equipped District Hospitals will have a significant impact on regional healthcare services. These hospitals form a major part of a landmark $300 million project, funded by Nedbank CIB and supported by UK Export Finance, to deliver 5 District Hospitals and 115 Mini Hospitals across Zambia.

Described by Nedbank as “a narrative of innovation, empowerment and hope”, these clinically-rich hospitals are designed for optimum performance in the environments in which they operate. Complete with off-grid power and water reticulation systems, the hospitals are designed for cost-effective operation and to withstand the operational rigours inherent in regional Africa.
